One of the best things about San Antonio is the many places around town that there are to explore. Whether you’re going on a first date to get to know someone new or just looking for something romantic and unique to do with your long-time lover, here are some unique and fun date ideas for everyone to enjoy!
San Antonio Botanical Gardens + Jardín
The San Antonio Botanical Gardens are always beautiful to explore no matter the time of year. To turn a trip here into an extraordinary date, start with early dinner reservations at Jardín to enjoy some gourmet Mediterranean-inspired fare with a view of the gardens. Then enjoy a stroll through the 38-acre living museum of gardens. If your partner is interested in art, be sure to also check out the Frida Kahlo exhibition the gardens are showcasing until November 2 while you’re there!
San Antonio Museum of Art + Elsewhere
Art museum dates are a great place to explore and get to know your partner. The San Antonio Museum of Art contains 5,000 years of art from all around the world and has free admission for Bexar county residents every Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Once you finish exploring, take a quick 3-minute walk around the corner to Elsewhere Garden Bar & Kitchen to enjoy dinner and drinks while sitting on a porch swing with a beautiful view of the San Antonio River.
A local monthly favorite, First Friday is San Antonio’s longest-running art walk which has been in Southtown since 1994! This free event is currently anchored by Blue Star Arts complex where you can start the night by exploring their many galleries and artist studios. As you continue down South Alamo and through the historic King William district, check out the many local vendors, gallery’s and creative food and drink options!
Every weekend, the Pearl curates a farmer’s market that is full of fresh produce from local farmers, food from local chefs, drinks, desserts, nuts, flowers, and more! After you’ve explored all the booths, grab a spot on the green space and enjoy some drinks or whatever food you’ve picked up along the way and watch all the people go by. Although the farmers market only lasts from 9 AM-1 PM on Saturdays and 10 AM-2 PM on Sundays, be sure to check out all the shops in the Pearl District as well.
Alamo Beer Company + Hays Street Bridge
Is your partner a beer lover? Be sure to check out the local brewery Alamo Beer Company for some craft beer and delicious food. This awesome outdoor venue always has fun events like karaoke on Fridays night. Once you’re done there, finish the night by walking over to historic Hays Street Bridge to catch a beautiful sunset with stunning views of the San Antonio skyline.
If you’re looking for something creative to do, then check out Clay Casa! Decide whether you want to paint your pottery at their location, or you can opt to pick up your supplies and paint together at home. With a variety of pottery to paint and colors to choose from, this is a great way to either make something for yourself or for each other. Did we mention Clay Casa is also BYOB? So be sure to bring your favorite wine to share as you paint and enjoy each other’s company.
If you and your partner love to laugh, be sure to check out the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club! Every Tuesday they have open mic night where local comics can sign up to go on stage and perform, but they also have plenty of famous comedians come through every month so be sure to check out their calendar to see if your favorite may be coming anytime soon. Food and drinks are also served here so be prepared for a full night of fun and laughter.
Rollerskating
For a night full of great music and maybe even a bit of a workout, check out Car-Vel Skate Center or the Rollercade and get your skate on! Car-Vel hosts a BYOB Adults-only Throwback Skate Night weekly on Thursdays from 7:30-10 PM and the Rollercade also has an Adult Skate Night on Wednesdays from 7:30-10:30 PM. Bring your skates or rent some there and jam out to the best throwbacks as you roll around through the lights.
Support SA local sports teams together
San Antonio is home to a few professional sports teams, so if your significant other is a sports fanatic, there is always a team to support by catching a game!

Go on a hike
San Antonio has many great trails in the city to enjoy a nice hike. If you’re looking for something quick, try out Friedrich Wilderness Park or Cathedral Rock. However, if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, go to Government Canyon State Natural Area. This hidden gem has long hikes with beautiful views of the hill country. Pack a picnic so you can take a break along the way and enjoy your company in the shade with some food and lots of water.
