Out of all of these locations, San Antonio made it onto their exclusive list of the 25 best places to retire in America. So what makes San Antonio so great for retirees? The median home price is still below the national average, the air quality is good (as is the local economy). There’s the added benefit that there is no state income tax or estate tax. To top it all off, the cultural scene is thriving.

Texas is the second-largest state in America! That means that there are plenty of options to choose from when you’re deciding where to live in the Lone Star State. According to the U.S. News and World report for 2021-2022, San Antonio is the fourth best place to live in Texas. San Antonio was ranked 2nd in quality of tacos in Texas, just behind Austin. San Antonio also has the 2nd most national taco championship awards. San Antonio ranked 5th in solar
One of the many reasons why people say they love Texas is the sun and warmth, and San Antonio has made the most of the rays. The city was ranked 5th in the nation for solar energy capacity. “It is incredibly exciting to see the state of Texas, which has been the national leader in wind energy since 2005, now also helping lead the way in solar power generation,” said Lennis Barlow, Clean Energy Associate with Environment Texas Research and Policy Center.

The San Antonio-New Braunfels area saw a 163% increase in six-figure jobs from 2015 to 2020. The city also came in 7th in terms of large metropolitan areas with the most growth in high-paying jobs across the U.S between those 5 years. A local San Antonio university ranked one of the best in Texas
Trinity University was ranked as the 5th best college in Texas for 2022 after rating more than 80 schools. It has held the spot for the last 3 years! Trinity University offers more than 100 majors and minors as well as several interdisciplinary and advising programs. They offer undergraduate and graduate degrees, too. Compared to the 4,136 colleges the study looked at in the U.S., Trinity ranked 96th, proving that San Antonio is a great city to attend college.

The National Association of Realtors® recently called San Antonio a hidden gem! The list included real estate markets that are expected to see some strong home price appreciation.
