Kids have seemingly endless energy, and one of the best ways for them to get that energy out is to run, jump, and climb around one of San Antonio’s best playgrounds around the city.
San Antonio has so many great parks for the whole family to enjoy and explore in every part of the city. From playgrounds with innovative architecture to options that have also incorporated splash pads to cool off, the options are endless! Here are some of our favorites all around the city:
Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair Park - 434 S. Alamo St.
Since being remodeled in 2015, Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair Park has become one of the most popular parks in San Antonio.
Located in the heart of downtown, you get a spectacular view of the Tower of the Americas while enjoying this historical yet beautiful park, which features a huge rope/net climbing structure, splash pads, sand play area, ping pong, cornhole and so much more! This playground has also incorporated adaptive play equipment which allows wheelchair users and smaller children to be able to ensure that this park is fun for everyone.
Pearsall Park - 4700 Old Pearsall Rd.
Located on the city’s southwest side, Pearsall Park is full of activities that the whole family will be sure to enjoy. This park is home to San Antonio’s largest children’s playground, with 3 stories of fun to explore!
In addition to the playground, Pearsall Park has multiple splash pads, disc golf, art installations, and the city’s largest skate park! While there is an abundance of things for the kids to enjoy at this park, they also have a featured “Fitness Challenge Zone” with a variety of equipment for parents and adults to utilize as well. Did we mention this park also has a zipline?!
Phil Hardberger Park - 13203 Blanco Rd.
With its newly opened land bridge, Phil Hardberger Park is 311-acres of trails, playscapes, dog parks, picnic facilities, basketball courts, outdoor classrooms and so much more. Before the land bridge was built, this park was divided into two separate areas but has now been brought back together as one.
While this park is classified as a natural area, there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. This park has not one, but two playgrounds that are both generously covered with shady trees to keep kids and parents cool as they play. Check out the nature play area as well where children are encouraged to climb trees, build teepees and explore nature in a hands-on way.
Brackenridge Park - 3700 N St Marys St.
Located on a stretch of the San Antonio River, and close to local favorite spots such as the Japanese Tea Garden, Sunken Garden Theater, and the San Antonio Zoo, Brackenridge Park is a historical favorite for native San Antonians and visitors alike.
With plenty of trails for the whole family to explore, river access for fishing, and of course an expansive playground for the kids to run around on there, is no shortage of fun for the whole family at this park. Another great aspect of this historic park is the many trees to provide shade around the playground to escape the hot Texas sun during the summer as well!
Woodlawn Lake Park - 221 Alexander Ave.
Not only does this park have a beautiful view of Woodlawn Lake, but it also features a spacious playground with all of the fun amenities for your children to enjoy. In addition to the playground, Woodlawn Lake Park also has a pool, tennis courts, and trails featuring a variety of fitness stations so adults can get a workout in while the kids play.
